Caught napping

Moody, my daughter Tessas lilac Siamese can always be found cuddling up to something or someone warm. Any heat source will do! Here he is, cuddling into Angel aka Madam Pudding....catching a few ZZZs while catching a few rays of sun coming through my bedroom window.

I have an art table in my bedroom, and today I was sitting at it, playing away in my jumble journal. I turned around only to find my bed behind me taken over by my four cats. Oh, they have it so rough living here! lol From left to right we have: Joe Toes (he has 26 of 'em, not the regular 18), Tigger, Madam Angel Pudding and Moody!

Wildlife

My mom likes to feed the squirrels in our backyard. This little one is the Mom who, oddly enough, seems to like feeding herself first before she allows her young ones to eat! The bird has been visiting me daily for weeks now. He is always alone, and I've never seen a second one. I've just learned the type of bird it is: a Townsend's Solitaire. So, he lives up to his name! What a pretty bird he is. Our 2 dogs and 6 cats love to watch the wildlife feed! lol

More pics of the furry side of the family....

From top to bottom....
First we have Tigger, an Abyssinian cat I rescued while taking my Rottweiler Sophia to the vets for her annual checkup. Tigger was literally seconds away from being euthanized, the vet with needle in hand. I heard his gorgeous meow when he innitially came into the vet hospital, and inquired with the owner what kind of cat he was. That's when she told me he was being put down because they were moving. Yes, moving!!!! Can you believe that!?! Real nice, huh?
Well, I sat there in the office waiting for Sophie's turn to see the vet and all I could think about was that poor innocent cat. I suddenly jumped up and said to the assistant, "I'll take that cat home with me!" So, she rushed in and told the vet just in time. Everyone was in tears, tears of sadness, that turned to tears of joy and relief. Now, two years later, Tiggs is a very happy, very spoiled and very loved pussycat! And what a cool personality he has!

Next, is my beloved Rotteiler, Sophie. The absolute love of my life, my most precious little soul. She is sound asleep on the bed here after our evening walk, while Mom is sitting at her desk playing in her art journal; our regular evening ritual! lol

Lastly, the bottom photo is "Madam Pudding" herself; art assistant, extraordinaire! She always has a paw in my artwork one way or another. Often letting me know that she doesn't approve of my choice in papers or images, by laying on them or knocking things onto the floor and running with it in her mouth! lol Another cat with quite the personality, quite the comic, and yes, I know, quite the pudding too! That's what happens when you get thrown away with your siblings, in a dumpster, and have to eat discarded junk food to survive. My other rescue kitty!

I just gotta love 'em all! :)

Nightly visits...

I just love raccoons. With their adorable looking little faces how can one not? Yes, I know they can be pesky, but the human population hasn't helped that; and besides they've got to live too! Anyhow, every evening a male and female raccoon come out and peruse the neighbourhood. And tonight I finally got a few pics. Aww, what a face!

What one can do on a rainy afternoon....

Feeling a little tuckered out after breakfast, lunch, and a bath, Madame Pudding decided to cozy up in a wool blanket while the rain poured heavily outside. Ahh, nothing beats drifting off to sleep with the sound of rain falling on the roof......

Working in my personal art journal, with a little bit of help...

A fitting first spread above, along with a photo of my assistant, yes, it is her, "The Madam Pudding"! She loves putting her two paws worth into any of the work I do in my personal art journal. After a long period of deliberation, "we" decided upon the image of the little nymph playing in the flowers. After a good long perusing of my art journaling materials, she has now settled in for a wee catnap on my bed amid the scattering of supplies.

Baby, it's cold outside!

Well, it is. And what better way to spend it than cozied up in a nice warm throw! And by the looks of things, Angel agrees whole-heartedly!

Introducing Joseph Toes, the 26 toed wonder!

Yep, he has 8 more toes than the average feline! lol One of my fellow Calendargirlz was interested in seeing a picture of my 26 toed cat, Joe Toes. He has 7 toes on his front paws and 6 on his back paws. It's not easy trying to take a picture of the paws of a cat while he's rubbing and rolling around! lol But, I managed to get these two pics of him and his big clodhoppers! So, there you are Lisa, introducing Sir Joseph Toes! I wasn't able to get a good shot of his crab-like claws, but one is just peeking out of his left thumb. in the bottom picture. His inside thumbs have huge claws shaped like crab's claws. His thumbs on his front paws actually have 3 toes, with 4 toes on the main area of his paw.

My girl

This is the love of my life, my Rottweiler Sophie, on her new pillow. Although it seems that the cats prefer it, and she prefers my bed!

Simple things on a grey day....

The injury to my left shoulder has been bothering me a lot today, so I have kept things simple. This afternoon I have been sitting on my bed sifting through a bunch of old magazines. I've been cutting out neat patterns, clothing and faces to use for a book I am creating on my fictious "Planet Electra" and its inhabitants. My cat Angel, seeing that I was on my bed decided to join me and have a wee catnap. Getting up to make myself a cup of tea, I noticed that she didn't budge a whisker, so I grabbed my camera and took pictures of her. The above pictures are what I snapped, one right after the other. from top to bottom. As you can see, she is fast asleep in the top pic, then in the middle pic she's got her eyes barely open looking towards me, then in the last photo I took, she's fast asleep again. What a life! lol Angel aka "Madame Pudding" is such a precious, loving cat. Something as simple as seeing her contentedly snoozing warms my heart and puts a soft smile on my face. Well, off I go, back to my Planet Electra and to sit with Angel....

Next personal journal entry...

'Morning all! Above is my latest addition in my handmade personal journal. This spread was inspired by an incredible artist friend, Toni. Her vivid and lush imagination never fails to blow me away. The inspiration she gave me put in mind a special memory that I hold close to my heart. It's of times spent as a little girl in the vast garden behind my Auntie Gert's great stone house. The cat I used in my little story is one of the cats I have now; and yes, her name is Angel Pudding! I have added a photo of her.

Nite nite, sleep tight...

I am burning the midnight oil tonight, working on a spread in my art journal, and playing around with photos on Photoshop. I decided that I needed a hot cup of tea, and on my way downstairs to the kitchen, I noticed that my beloved Rottweiler "Sophie" had already received a visit from Mr. Sandman. So I had to capture her with my camera as she was losing the battle to stay awake! lol

Creature Comforts

Today it is all about creature comforts....a hot cup of tea, my personal art journal, and my beloved furry family. 2009 could become a little stressful for me. I needed to take a time out from the worries in life and surround myself with blissful things. Something I must be sure to do throughout the coming months. Above are some photos of entries I've made in my journal, and my cats caught catnapping in the afternoon sun.

MY NEW NEIGHBOUR: A RED-TAILED HAWK!

Just this afternoon I could hear a squirrel out back
kicking up quite a fuss. So I had a look out one of my
upstairs windows to see if I could notice why it was making
such a noise. At the very top of the pine tree was a gorgeous
red-tailed hawk. Hawks don't normally venture this close to
civilization around here. So, I had to run for my camera to
catch a photo of him. The pictures aren't that clear,
but you can see him high up in the pine, scouting
the area. So the sound I was hearing was
not that of a squirrel, but the hawk!

My little clown...

This "little" cat is my in-house clown. She does
the funniest things, like, hangs by all fours from a
big stuffed animal fish that I have suspended in my
art room doorway. She is unbelievably affectionate,
and, as you can see, she sits in the most peculiar
positions! She's always making me laugh. Even her
expression is comical! lol For such a big girl, she
is highly active and the most playful of my cats.
She is my precious, my "Angel Pudding".

A DOODLE & A DOG

On the left is an old doodle of mine. I have posted
it on my blog, again. It's kind of a visual pep talk
to myself to do doodle more! lol On the right is
the latest photo of my rottweiler, Sophia. She
has stolen my heart in a very big way!

EVIL INTENT

I couldn't resist titling this post the way I have. Looking at the eyes you will notice where I got the idea from! lol
On the right is Angel my year old dilute calico, and below is Moody my 13 year old lilac point siamese.
Neither one of these cats is evil though! They're very sweet and loving little souls.
