Prepping my new art journal....

After a long long spell of having a big creative block I've started going to town again. I've started a new art journal; a bigger one than I am normally used to working in, with pages 8W x 11H. It's a spiral bound journal with the left-hand pages being blank and the right-hand pages being lined. Above are 5 spreads I have started. A few more visual additions to be done, then I can get down to the journaling part of these spreads! I can't stand it when I have these creative blocks; so I am so relieved and happy to be playing once again! :D

The "eye" in my art journaling....

My art journaling in progress. I don't seem to be adding photos of my artwork very often, so I thought I'd add these pics of some spreads I've started in my newest art journal. While playing around with the doodling in the top spread (I still need to do my journaling in the large eye area yet), my Mom came up with an idea for me to do with eyes. I don't recall now how the subject of eyes came up, but she suggested that I should incorporate an image of an "eye" in every single spread I create. Whether it be the focal point, or as my Mom put it, somewhere almost hidden, or discreet. "What a marvelous idea!" I said to her. So, that is what I am doing throughout this whole new art journal!
Notice the eye in the blueberries and the huge eye shape in the top spread? The eyes in the windows of the houses in the bottom spread? And yes, there will be eyes in the middle spread with my "Maple Key Madams"! Hmm, maybe I will add eyes to their "maple key" wings! lol Brilliant idea there, Mom, thanks bunches!! :)

Next personal journal entry...

'Morning all! Above is my latest addition in my handmade personal journal. This spread was inspired by an incredible artist friend, Toni. Her vivid and lush imagination never fails to blow me away. The inspiration she gave me put in mind a special memory that I hold close to my heart. It's of times spent as a little girl in the vast garden behind my Auntie Gert's great stone house. The cat I used in my little story is one of the cats I have now; and yes, her name is Angel Pudding! I have added a photo of her.

Another personal journal prompts spread...

'Afternoon all! I've completed a second personal journal prompts spreads posted in the calendargirlz group. I've used the prompts: stencils, and a paperdoll. I'm looking forward to playing with more of these personal journal prompts in the future! It has been a very long time since I've used a fairy them and it was fun! Above is my latest spread.

Personal Journal Prompts spread...

Today I worked on a spread in my personal journal. I've combined three of the Calendargirlz journal prompts juliet posted for us to play with. The prompts I used were: a favourite quote, the colours aqua, berry, tangerine and black, and, to use stitching on our page(s). I don't sew very much, so I created a blanket stitch border using a black permanent ink pen. Above is what I've created using these prompts, and I had a lot of fun creating it!

QUIET GREY

I've been spending my day in my bedroom on my big sprawling bed amongst my art journals, my cat Meesha, and dog Sophia. It's a quiet day, and a grey rainy day, which suits my mood. Observing a few things, I hear the music coming from downstairs, where my son is redecorating my living room and dining room for me, in 'raging sea' grey. The lyrics that I hear floating up the stairs are 'It's always raining in my head.' A song called 'Epiphany' by 'Staind'. I notice too, that I am wearing grey. I guess now I know the theme of my art journal pages I'm going to be playing around with while I spend my day in quiet solitude.
