The consideration of resurrecting the dead and buried Comp Jour....

Over at the Calendargirlz group, we have been discussing personal journaling the past two days, and about keeping our journals or tossing them. I keep all of mine. But one Comp Jour has been sitting on my shelf for a few years now, doing nothing. So, I have decided to resurrect the old and unfinished 2006 Comp Jour. I have taken pages out of it that I want to keep and inserted them into my Comp Jours #1 and #2. And I have quite happily trashed pages that were a part of my "past" life, and that just simply REALLY tick me off! It felt good. Above are a few of the pages I have kept. Out in the garbage with the sad bad stuff, and into my new comp jours with the happy good stuff!

A Comp Jour gift...

Above are pics of a "Comp Jour" I started
for a friend. I've altered the cover & prepped about
twenty backgrounds with paint, scrapbook papers,
stamps & images, to start the book off for her.

Comp Jour spread: Slow Walk....

I started Comp Jour #1 by first creating backgrounds on over a dozen spreads. Above is one of my finished spreads in the journal. "Slow Walk", the poem in this spread, is one of my own. Here are the words to the poem:

Slow walk
a shroud of silence
unaware, yet aware
of a misty cloak of rain.
To each, a blanket
of grey security.
Rain, delicate and cool falls
onto two solo faces
pondering and drawn inward
to that hallowed place
of oneness, solitude.
Yet, the pondering of each
is of the other:
Apprehension
chemical tension
side by side
alone, together.
Canopied in
green indifference.
Trees surround them
under purple-bellied clouds.
And the slow walk continues
down destiny's path....

Comp Jour #2

Hi all! Another at home project I've been working on has been a Comp Jour #2 I am trying to be less rigid with the layout/composition of my pages. It's so hard to break the mold you are so used to! Anyhow, above is a spread I've created. The left page is complete, but I'm still working on the right page.

Entries in Comp Jour #1....

Happy weekend everyone! Above are two entries in my comp jour The top photo is of a spread I created using a personal journal prompt from the Calendargirlz group. The prompt was "A favourite movie". Sigh....Australia....what an absolutely beautiful movie it is! Anyone who hasn't had the chance to see it, must! You will not be disappointed. The bottom photo is of my finished "Night" page. I have only added one single word to it, & do not want to add anything more. I feel that the spread is complete the way it is.

The night....

I am still on a mission, creating backgrounds in my Comp Jour #1. Above is one of my latest backgrounds. I've just about completed it. I was going to journal something in the middle of the whole spread with bright pink ink, but I feel that I may ruin what I have already achieved with this piece so far. I have an idea to add just a little touch of something to it, and forget about the journaling. I'm going to sleep on it for now.

"COMP JOUR"

Over a period of just a few days I have been feverishly working on the beginnings of a composition journal, aka "comp jour". What I've been doing is creating backgrounds on pages to have at the ready for future "spur of the moment" writing. Here are photos of my Comp Jour #1 and the background pages I've done so far. The idea came from a fellow art journaling friend, Toni, in our Calendargirlz group. Toni creates fabulous art journal pages and truly has a beautiful gift for writing.
